In the picturesque seaside town of Candelaria on the eastern Tenerife coast stands one of the most important churches in the Canary Islands and, with a capacity of 5,000 people, one of the largest churches in Spain.

The Basilica dedicated to Our Lady of Candelaria is the most important place of pilgrimage in the Canaries and all the major religious festivals are celebrated here with the greatest intensity. The church is built in a richly decorated neoclassical style and was completed in 1959.
Entrance inside is free. The temple stands in the large spacious square of the Patroness of the Canary Islands, right on the Atlantic coast.
