Dongdaemun Design Plaza

Dongdaemun Design Plaza

The futuristic modern building complex Dongdaemund Design Plaza (DDP for short) has quickly become one of Seoul's main architectural landmarks since its completion in 2014.

The complex is a hub for Korean modern art, architecture and design exhibitions, as well as a major shopping mall. The building stands on the foundations of a historic fortress, which can be seen in the glassed-in parts of the interior.

The exterior, including parts of the rooftops, is then built as a large urban park for pedestrians.

The Dongdaemun Design Plaza was designed by world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid.

What to see and visit?

Dongdaemun Design Plaza is a truly multifunctional centre with many attractions for tourists and locals alike.

The main 280-metre-long building is mainly dedicated to design. On a total of 7 floors you will find extensive spaces for temporary exhibitions as well as a permanent design museum.

The outdoor area with a garden called Dongdaemun History & Culture Park, where you can find the remains of historical fortifications, is particularly popular.
