The middle of the Five Great Palaces of the Joseon Dynasty, which are listed by UNESCO, is the most easterly of all. Closely adjacent to Changdeokgung Palace, it boasts a huge park with a beautiful idyllic lake.

Truth be told, the park is the one mainly worth visiting. The buildings of Changgyeonggung Palace themselves are by no means monumental. Nevertheless, they still breathe ancient history and pleasant wide courtyards.

Changgyeonggung Palace was built in 1483 by King Sejong as a residence for his father Taejong.

Admission and opening hours

The palace and the adjacent park are open daily except Mondays from 9:00-21:00, with the last entry one hour before closing time.

The ticket price is 1 000 krw for adults, or 500 krw for minors aged 7 to 18.

An integrated ticket to all five palaces + secret gardens is also available for 10 000 krw (save 4,000 won).

Transportation to the palace

Changgyeonggung is next to Changdeokgung Palace, which has one of the entrances with a ticket office (two-way). You can walk between the palaces in 10 minutes.
