The district that never sleeps, the core of Seoul. The hustle and bustle of the streets, alleyways and pedestrian zones, street markets and the most luxurious shops with world-famous brands will absorb you day and night.
Find the best hotels in downtown Seoul
Dozens of inexpensive stalls selling traditional Korean street food will satisfy your hunger and thirst, as will the many Korean and international restaurants that can be found in literally every home.
Where to go in Myeongdong?
The central shopping and pedestrian area is Myeongdon-gil Street, which runs from west to east through the centre of the district. Here you will find mainly more upmarket and larger shops and restaurants.
From here, other smaller narrow streets full of local shops, street stalls and local budget restaurants radiate out in all directions.
Set aside at least an hour to wander around Myeongdong, pick out the places you like and come back in the evening for a meal. Myeongdong is alive late into the night and the hustle and bustle doesn't die down until between 3am and 4am.
