The Opera House, opened in 2008, is just a 5-minute walk from the main station.
The extraordinary structure, creating a seamless transition from the sea fjord to the mainland, has quickly become the city's biggest tourist attraction.
While the famous Opera House in Sydney, Australia, resembles the waves of the sea, the architects of the new Oslo Opera House designed the structure to resemble an ice floe plunging into the waters of a fjord.
Enjoy the view from the roof
The opera house attracts visitors not only for its numerous opera performances, but also for its very interesting architecture that allows access from the waterfront to the gently sloping white concrete roof.
Virtually the entire roof area is accessible to the public, and it is even wheelchair accessible, suitable for families with prams, for example. There are no steep stairs on the way to the top of the roof, just breathtaking views of central Oslo and the sea fjord.
- Access to the roof - free
- Roof opening hours - 24/7
