Hiroshima has a relatively small compact center. Look for accommodation ideally on the axis around the main street, Aioi Dori, between the train station and the memorial site where the atomic bomb was dropped.
Outside the centre, you can find cheaper private accommodation, but public transport in Hiroshima is quite slow and commuting to attractions can take up to an hour of your time.

Prices
Hiroshima is one of the cheaper Japanese cities and a night in a well rated large 3* hotel usually costs around 65 usd.
The cheapest capsule hotels cost from 20 usd per night, while better 4* hotels right in the city centre or by the sea cost from 120 usd.
Expect the highest hotel prices in autumn (October and November) and spring (March and April) when the weather is at its best and therefore high season. If you're heading to Hiroshima during this period, it pays to book your hotel at least 2 months in advance.
The lowest rates are during June, July and August when the weather is very humid and hot.
Where we stayed - our tip
We wanted to try a Japanese speciality that has gradually spread around the world - the capsule hotel.
We chose the well-reviewed Capsule Hotel Cube Hiroshima in the centre of the city, right on the main street Aioi Dori, where for example tram line 2 towards Miyajima passes.
The hotel is roughly midway between the Bus Center and the train station.
In addition to the classic capsules in one common room, the hotel also offers Superior capsules with their own small room, which we can only recommend.
If you are looking for very cheap accommodation with an acceptable level of privacy, the Superior room is the best choice.
