Parco Sempione

The city's largest park is a popular spot for Milanese and foreigners alike. Take a nice stroll up to the triumphal arch of the Arco della Pace, where you can satisfy your hunger in one of the restaurants, or lie down in the grass and relax with a good book.
More active individuals can join the many joggers who use the park for their daily jog.

The park used to be a parade ground for soldiers and was a fixed part of the defensive Castello Sforzesco, located on the southern edge of the park. After the unification of Italy in 1861, the area was gradually converted into the public city park that it is today.
Rest, museum, restaurant and aquarium
Sempione Park covers an area of more than 38 hectares and is interwoven with a network of paths, ponds and benches. The grassy areas are freely accessible and in good weather are literally filled with locals and tourists having picnics.
Across the park you will find a large number of small eateries and classic larger restaurants.
Roughly in the middle of Sempione you can visit the Triennale di Milano, a design and modern art museum whose 1933 building has been awarded many times as an architectural monument. For information on current exhibitions or admission, visit the official website: triennale.org.
On the very eastern edge of the park, stop by the Milan Aquarium building, which houses a series of smaller aquariums with marine alien fish. Official website and ticket prices: acquariodimilano.it
