In the very northern tip of Sumatra we can recommend the following 3 locations:
Lake Toba - a large mysterious volcanic lake in the northern part of Sumatra, around which lives the Batak tribe. The culture of the former humanoids was quite damaged in the past by Christian missionaries, which unfortunately the humanoids did not manage to eat. The centre of the Lake Toba coastline is the town of Parapat, from where boats go to the island of Samosir with the Tuk-Tuk peninsula where most of the hotels are located.
Bukit Lawang - a rehabilitation centre for orangutans, here they learn to live independently in the wild. Twice a day you can observe the feeding of orangutans here. In the surroundings there are large rubber tree plantations. A starting point for jungle treks.
Gunung Leuser National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site), home to orangutans, Sumatran rhinos and tigers. With a guide, you can take multi-day jungle treks.
