The museum holds over 61,000 prehistoric and anthropological artifacts and over 5,000 items from archaeological sites throughout Southeast Asia.
The National Museum's collections are the richest of any museum in Indonesia.
The inside of the museum is divided into several sections:
- The Stone Sculpture Collection - focusing mainly on Hindu and Buddhist art.
- Archaeological and ethnographic collection
- Ceramics collection - ethnographic and ethnographic collection
- Extensive ethnographic halls with an exhibition of many Indonesian cultures
Admission fees and opening hours
The museum is closed on Mondays and all public holidays.
- Tuesday to Thursday - 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Friday - 8:00 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
- Saturday, Sunday - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Ticket price for international visitors is 10 000 idr, while locals only pay 5 000 idr.

How to get there
The National Museum of Indonesia is located on the west side of Merdeka Square near the Monas Monument.
Directly in front of the museum is the bus stop "Monumen Nasional" where bus lines 1, 1A, 2, 3, 5C, 7F stop.
