While the name might suggest that this opulent neo-Renaissance building from 1357 in the heart of Paris is a hotel, the reality is different.
The Hôtel de ville is the Paris Town Hall, which has served its purpose continuously since its completion to this day.
The building is mainly used for offices, but sometimes events and exhibitions are held inside or in the spacious square in front of the town hall.
The façade of the town hall is decorated with a total of 146 statues of personalities who had a significant relationship with Paris.
