The Belleville district lies completely out of the tourist spotlight in the east of Paris, but it's still worth a visit if you have an extra hour.
Belleville is one of the few hilly areas in Paris and the neighbourhood itself has a very pleasant and local feel.

The main attraction is the small park of Belleville, located in the hills to the west. This is one of the reasons why its upper parts offer beautiful and unusual views of the whole of Paris.
In summer, when the leaves are on the trees, only a relatively narrow window is visible, but in winter the whole centre, including the Eiffel Tower, is magnificent.
