Visa
Visas for Cape Verde have been abolished and EU citizens can travel freely to Cape Verde without the need for a visa, with a maximum stay of 30 days.
However, minor bureaucratic measures have been retained and travellers must pay a so-called security fee Taxa de Segurança Aeroportuária (TSA) before entering the country.
- Holidays to Salu
- Holidays to Boa Vista
Security tax
Every foreign tourist is required to pay a security tax when entering Cape Verde through Sal SID, Boa Vista BVC or Praia RAI International Airport. The cost of this tax is 3 400 cve.
It can be paid in several ways:
- online at least 5 days before arrival in Cape Verde.
- through a travel agency (not recommended)
- at the airport upon arrival
On-line payment can be made simply through the official website www.ease.gov.cv. You will fill in a short registration form and pay the fee by credit card. The exchange rate from CVE to CZK will be converted according to the current exchange rate of your bank.
Travel agencies will offer you to pay this fee together with the tour. This is not recommended as they will charge extra for this service and the security fee will be 0 eur 11 eur instead of 29 eur.
The last option is to pay the fee on the spot. This option is particularly suitable if you are taking a last-minute tour to Cape Verde and cannot manage to fill in the online form more than 5 days before departure. The amount can be paid at the airport in EUR or by credit card.
Other documents
Your passport must be valid for more than 6 months after your return. This rule is very strictly observed in Cape Verde, so check your passport early. On the other hand, there are no other restrictions for entry, no cash amount is checked and no return ticket is required.
