The mosque was built in 1566 on the site of thermal springs, which at one time were even brought directly inside the building.
The building is interesting for its large dome with a diameter of 15 metres and is built in a similar style to the former and much larger Black Mosque, which is now the Church of the Seven Saints.
Admission and opening hours
Tourists, including women, can enter the mosque. However, it is essential to keep your shoulders and knees covered and, of course, you must remove your shoes before entering.
The mosque is open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm outside of prayer times and entry is free.
