Parliament of Victoria

The magnificent and monumental Vicotria State Parliament Building is one of Melbourne's most important historical landmarks.

The building was built in the Victorian style in 1855 and still serves its purpose today.

Between 1901 and 1927, the building even served as the National Parliament of Australia. During this time, Melbourne served as the temporary capital of all Australia before moving to the man-made city of Canberra.

Admission and tour of the Parliament

The interior of Parliament can only be viewed on a guided tour, which is free of charge.

Tours are held Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm but only on days when Parliament is not in session.

The maximum number of participants is 25 and therefore online booking is required.

For tour dates and to book, visit the official website at parliament.vic.gov.au/visit/public-tour.
