All flights use one large modern and very clear terminal.
Arrivals are on the ground floor and departures on the first floor. Check-in desks are in the same hall for domestic and international departures. There is a security checkpoint for the domestic section in the middle of the hall and security and passport control for international flights on the left.
Security checks tend to be quick and well organised.
In most cases, it will take no more than 30 minutes to get from the train station to your plane, including all queues.
Visa-on-arrival - where to buy?
When you arrive from abroad, you need to purchase a visa before attending the normal immigration checkpoint.
A quicker option is to buy your e-visa from home, avoiding the Visa-on-Arrival counter. You can apply for an e-visa exclusively through the official website evisa.imigrasi.go.id. However, this option often does not work because some foreign phone numbers do not receive a confirmation code by text message.
Visas are sold at special counters before the immigration check and cost 500 000 idr.
Payment can be made by card (for example, Revolut allows you to maintain an account in Indonesian rupiah) or in foreign currencies at the following conversion rates:
- 32 eur
- 35 usd
- 45 sgd
- 50 aud
Once your visa has been processed, you can proceed to the automated passport gate and do not need to visit the counter with a border official.
You do not have to go to the border crossing point or visit the visa gate without having to visit the border crossing point.
Yogyakarta is not typically a transfer airport, but you may still encounter a guaranteed transfer in exceptional cases, especially between two domestic flights.
After exiting the aircraft, head for the exit and follow the "Transit" signs, which will take you into a special corridor straight to the departure gate area.
You do not go through security and if you have purchased both flights as one booking, you do not need to collect your checked baggage.
If you arrive on an international flight, you always have to go through immigration, collect your baggage and check in again.
Airport overnight stays - opening hours
The public area of the airport remains open 24/7, but the transit area closes after the last departure, which is usually around 21:00.
In addition, there are virtually no seats or suitable places to lie down in the public area.
Hotels near the airport
The hotel is particularly convenient for early morning departures and if you are not travelling directly from Yogyakarta, where trains connect to all departures and arrivals.
The most comfortable accommodation will offer Cordia Hotel Yogyakarta - Hotel Dalam Bandara *** located directly inside the terminal.
Entrance is only from the public area (ground floor - arrivals). Prices are high by Indonesian standards and are around 160 usd.
Significantly cheaper hotels with prices from 35 usd are located on the main road about 1,800 meters from the terminal. However, there is no sidewalk along the road, so we only list hotels offering free private transfer to the terminal:

The downside of these hotels is that they are not near any public transport, so you always have to travel outside the terminal or by expensive taxi. In addition, most hotels only send a free minibus after you call the phone number on your reservation.
