Vienna Airport is connected to the railway, which is the main link to the city and the rest of Austria.

Vienna Central Station, where the main bus station is also located (some Flixbus services stop at Erdberg station in another part of the city), is reached by direct trains from the underground station in the airport terminal. Train and S-Bahn to Vienna city centre
The best way to get to the heart of Vienna is via the city's S-Bahn line S7, which takes you right through Rennweg, Wien-Mitte or Praterstern stations. In addition to the S7 line, you can also use other ÖBB trains using the same tickets.
- Fares - 4,50 eur, group fare for two for 5,40 eur
- Travel time to Wien-Mitte - 23 minutes
- Frequency - 15-20 minutes
You can buy your ticket at the ticket machine at the station or online at oebb.at or on the WienMobil mobile app (available on Google Play / App Store).
The €4.50 ticket can be used to travel to any stop in Vienna and is also valid for trams, buses and the U-Bahn. You can change trains at will during the 120-minute period for which the ticket is valid.
Don't forget to mark your ticket at the platform if you are travelling on the S-Bahn, trains and underground! The group ticket for € 5.40 can only be used for S-Bahn or ÖBB regional trains.
- First train from Wien-Mitte - 4:19
- Last train from the airport - 1:19
If you have purchased a day ticket for public transport, you must buy a ticket for the zone outside Vienna for 2,10 eur when going to the airport ! The day ticket is not valid for the airport!
CAT train to the city centre
Avoid the overpriced "CAT - City Airport Train", for which there are advertisements everywhere at the airport and around the city. The journey time at Wien-Mitte station is only 7 minutes shorter than the S-Bahn S7.
The ticket is almost 3 times more expensive (one way costs 14,90 eur / return 24,90 eur).

Main bus station of the carrier Flixbus is called Erdberg. There is currently no direct connection between the airport and Erdberg station.
From Erdberg, first take the metro line U3 to the station "Landstrasse/Wien-Mitte", where you change to the direct train line S7 to the airport. The journey takes about 35 minutes in total and you pay for a ticket 4,50 eur (group ticket for two 5,40 eur).
Alternatively, you can get off already at St. Marx station and walk to Erdberg station (approx. 2,100 metres).
However, many long-distance Flixbus services also stop directly at the airport, so always check the flixbus.com website to see if you need to travel from the airport to Erdberg station.

These are a bit confusing sentences: 'While all international bus services also stop at the main train station, Erdberg station serves most Flixbus buses. There is no longer a direct bus from the airport to Erdberg".
According to a search on the Flixbus website, it looks like their international connections can get you to Vienna train station, Erdberg and the airport, but they won't sell you a ticket between Hlavac, Erdberg and the airport, even if the connection goes through there.
