The airport uses two terminals (1 and 3), but they are combined into one building.

Transfer between flights
Thanks to Austrian Airlines in particular, Vienna is one of the main transfer airports in Europe.
Vienna Airport boasts one of the shortest transfer times in Europe, with a transfer time of just 25 minutes. A free shuttle bus also runs between departure gates B/C and F/G, which are about a 15-minute walk away (from 5:00 am).
Transfers between Austrian Airlines flights in particular tend to be really hassle-free, as long as you have a very short transfer time in advance, there will usually be an airline staff member waiting at the gate to show you around.
Looks like they've come to their senses on security between baggage claim in T3 and T1 and are letting back in T1. We ran into a pretty tough old guy there a while ago who looked like he still had his Hitler Youth pass in his pocket, and a few others sent us out and through security again to T1, but it seems OK again, although the last time we went through there was only one securist, and she said straight away that if something beeped, we'd wait maybe 1/4 hour, because she was alone, and she was still wondering what we were doing there, even though we had the boarding pass of course, and then she said she didn't want to know. 😆 And she also confirmed to me that she was indeed going to go to airside 12 hours before departure.
I was obviously too optimistic. The others will probably let you through security, but you can't run into Gollum. Otherwise, T1 security says you can cross between terminals, but if the shuttle isn't running, you have to go outside. They also claim that the little security between terminals doesn't exist and that the shuttle says it doesn't run until 5am (no, it doesn't say that 😆). The security doesn't say it's staff only or connecting passengers only either. Just a comedy.
