Transportation from Stockholm Bromma Airport

Stockholm

There are large buses Vy Flygbussarna that run directly to the terminal and a tram line that takes you to the nearest metro.

If you want to travel more by public transport around Stockholm, it's worth taking the tram, which, unlike the Flygbussarna, you can use regular public transport tickets for.

Flygbussarna

The grey rainbow buses run from the airport to Stockholm C central station, where you can also transfer to all metro lines. The historic centre of Gamla Stan is a 10-minute walk away.

On the way, they only stop at one stop, Fridhemsplan, where you can change to the green and blue metro lines.

Ideally, buy tickets online at flygbussarna.se/bromma (it is bought without entering the date and time and is valid for 3 months from purchase for any connection). You can also buy a ticket from the driver (card only).

  • Price - 99 sek for both stops
  • Travel time - 25 minutes on T-Centralen
  • Frequency - irregular 20 to 240 minutes according to the current timetable
  • Last bus from the airport - 21:15 on weekdays; 16:30 on Saturdays; 21:30 on Sundays
  • First bus to airport (from Stockholm C) - 6:40 on weekdays; 8:00 on Saturday; 10:50 on Sunday

Tram

Tram line 31 (Tvärbanan) also has its final stop outside the terminal. The stop near the terminal is called Bromma flygplats. Some passengers confuse the airport with the "Brommaplan" stop, but it is located in a completely different part of this district.

The tram does not go to the centre, but only to the Alviks Strand terminal. At Alvik station (9 minutes from the airport) you can change to the Green Line metro, which takes you to the centre in another 13 minutes.

Find the best hotel in Stockholm

At the Norra Ulvsunda, Johannesfred, Alvik or Alviks Strand stops you can change to tram line 30 southwards (Liljeholmen, Årstaberg, Globen, Gullmarsplan, Sickla).

If you are heading in the opposite direction, change at the Norra Ulvsunda stop in the direction of Sundbyberg and Solna.

Find connections and timetables on the SL Transport website: sl.se.

  • Price - 42 sek for 75 minutes; 175 sek for 24 hours; 350 sek for 72 hours
  • Journey time - 9 minutes to Alvik metro station; total journey time to the centre including metro is approximately 28 minutes with a waiting time for transfers
  • Frequency - 15 minutes on weekdays; 20 minutes on weekends
  • Last tram from the airport - 23:30
  • First tram to the airport (from Alvik station) - 5:13 on weekdays; 5:33 on weekends

You can purchase a single ticket for 75 minutes at the airport by simply attaching your own contactless card to the reader on the tram stop platform. If you transfer to the metro, you will need to swipe your card again at the turnstile, but no more money will be withdrawn if you transfer within 75 minutes of first purchasing your ticket.

Other ticket types, if travelling from the airport, can only be purchased via the SL mobile app. No complicated registration is required.

If you pay with your own contactless card, there are no daily limits in Stockholm, so if you want to use the service more than 4 times a day, buy a day ticket via the mobile app.

Taxi, Uber, Bolt

Taxis are of course also available outside the terminal, and the mobile apps Uber and Bolt also work very well in Stockholm.

We recommend using these mobile apps as they are usually 30-50% cheaper than regular taxis.

For a trip from Bromma airport to the city centre you will pay around 250 sek.
