ATMs and exchange offices
The official airport exchange offices do not offer very good rates and you are better off withdrawing money from Costa Rican bank ATMs, which are located in the public area of the arrivals hall.
Shops and supermarket
Juan Santamaría Airport is not equipped with a supermarket or grocery store. If you are travelling to/from the airport by rental car, you can use the Walmart hypermarket (7:30am - 10:00pm) about 1 km from the terminal, next to the highway towards Alajuela.
There are shops inside the terminal especially after security check. You can shop mainly at duty free stores or fashion or Costa Rican souvenir shops.

The international terminal offers a wide variety of refreshments.
In the public area there are mainly smaller cafes with opening hours until 20:00.
After security you will find small bistros, classic restaurants, fast food Smashburger or Starbucks.
