San Jose Los Cabos Airport has 2 terminals, which are located in separate unconnected buildings.
However, the distance between the terminals is small and is approximately 400 metres, which can be covered on the landside.
It is not possible to move between the terminals via the airside.
Which terminal?
Both terminals are small to medium in size, well signposted and well organised.
It takes about 5 minutes to cross the airport concourse on foot.
The distribution of the terminals is based on a simple key:
- Terminal 1 - all domestic flights within Mexico
- Terminal 2 - all direct international flights
If you are flying from Los Cabos to an international destination with a connection that is at another Mexican airport (for example, Mexico City MEX), you will check in at domestic Terminal 1.
Transfer between flights
Los Cabos Airport is not a typical transfer point and airlines rarely offer guaranteed transfers here.
Therefore, the terminals are not designed for direct transfers without leaving the transit area.
You always have to go outside, collect your luggage and go through security to the departure gates.
If you are transferring between a domestic and an international flight, you must walk between the terminals. There is no shuttle bus between the terminals, but the distance is only 400 metres.
Overnight accommodation and airport opening hours
Both terminals close overnight. The building closes about 40 minutes after the last arrival (usually around 21:00) and opens about 3 hours before the first departure (usually around 4:30).
For this reason it is not possible to spend the night inside the terminal.
Hotels near the airport
Right next to the terminals you can stay in a well rated hotel Aeropuerto Los Cabos ***.
The hotel offers a free shuttle to the terminals, but you can also walk to the airport within 10 minutes.
