Transfer at Saint Martin Airport

Air Canada, SXM

Princess Juliana Airport uses one terminal for all international and local flights.

Unfortunately, there is no separation between long-haul flights and regional short-haul flights to nearby islands, so all passengers must go through security and wait in a common queue for passport control upon arrival.

Only private charter flights have a separate terminal.

The terminal is modern and spacious with ample seating in both the public and transit areas. However, service facilities are inadequate.

Passport and security control

The security check is efficient and even at peak times of the day you will spend no more than 20 minutes in line.

Passport control before departure is quick and queues do not form.

On the other hand, after the arrival of large aircraft from Europe and the USA, especially in the afternoon, you can spend more than 1 hour in the passport control queue.

Transfer between flights

SXM Airport is an important transfer point between flights from Europe/USA and flights to the surrounding islands of St. Bartholomew, St. Eustatius, Anguilla or Saba.

A special corridor has been created for passengers who have boarding passes to their final destination, which will take them past passport control and through security straight to the departure lounge.

You do not need to collect your luggage on connecting flights if you have purchased your connection as one booking on one ticket.

If you plan to change plan your transfer at SXM on your own, please allow plenty of margin. The total procedure of going through all the controls can take up to 90 minutes. In addition, flight delays or even cancellations due to inclement weather are common, especially from small island airports in the area.
