The island of Roatan is small, but oblong in shape (it measures about 40 km), so you can't do without transport. The best way to travel is by car, which you can rent right at the airport.
Rent a car

Taxi
Use a taxi if you're heading straight from the airport to the hotel resort where you'll be spending most of your time.
Mobile apps like Uber, Lyft and Bolt don't work on Roatán and you'll only use official fixed-price taxis 20 usd to all of Roatán's resorts.
Bus
A local transport line also runs along the road around the airport, providing vans for around 10 passengers.
The stops are not marked in any way, just stand at the side of the road and wave to the passing van.
Fares are paid to the driver in cash on alighting and cost between 25 hnl and 50 hnl depending on distance.
Buses run between Coxen Hole and Oak Ridge from about 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. every 20 minutes or so. There are no buses on Sundays or public holidays.
