Public transport - buses

The city bus stop is right outside the arrivals terminal.

Bus routes 130, 131, 138 run to the airport from Newcastle Interchange Central Bus Station.

Prices and fares

You can only pay fares with your own contactless card, which can be used on all transport throughout New South Wales.

Maximum daily limits always count too.

Fares to the airport are higher than fares to other stations. There is a surcharge for drop-off/pick-up at airport stations.

The price varies according to the time of day. The following periods are counted as Peak Hours Monday to Thursday: 6:30-10:00 and 15:00-19:00.

Fridays, weekends and public holidays count as off-peak all day.

Car rental

Taxi / Uber

The taxi stand is on the right just outside the terminal. Taxis can always be paid by card.

The Uber mobile app car stand is located directly in front of the terminal and is marked "Rideshare".

Expect the following prices for a trip to the city centre, depending on current demand or traffic:

The journey time to the centre is approximately 30 minutes.
