Getting from Milan Malpensa Airport

What to see in Milan
The fastest way to get to Milan is by the Malpensa Express. It will take you from Milan city centre to the airport in 41 to 54 minutes at the price of 13 eur.
If you buy a return ticket online, it will cost 20 eur.
Timetable and online ticket booking: malpensaexpress.it. Tickets can also be purchased from the ticket machine at the station, where you can pay by card and cash.
Trains run on two routes:
- Milano Cadorna with a stop at Milano Bovisa Politecnico
- Milano Centrale with a stop at Milano Porta Garibaldi
Both routes also stop in the municipalities between Milan and the airport (Busto Arsizio, Saronno, Castellanza).
The station is located in the basement of both terminals. From Terminal 1 you have to go down the escalator to the underground and walk about 200 metres along a corridor to the underground station, while from Terminal 2 you walk about 200 metres along an outdoor walkway covered by a roof.

Bus to Milan
The cheaper way to get to Milan is by bus, which stops at both terminals. They take about 60-75 minutes to the city centre and cost 10 eur, return on any connection 16 eur.
You buy tickets at the arrivals terminal, online or directly from the driver.

The stops for all buses at Centrale Station are located in Via Giovanni Battista Sammartini (see map).
Timetables or online booking of tickets can be found on the websites of each company: Terravision, Flixbus (in collaboration with Malpensa Shuttle) and Malpensa Airport Express. You will usually not have to wait more than 15 minutes for your connection.
If you buy a ticket online on Terravision, you can use any connection for free if you miss your booked one. You don't need to print the ticket, just show it in your mobile phone email.

To Bergamo and Linate airports
Direct connections to Bergamo Airport are provided by the bus company Flixbus in collaboration with Orio Shuttle (timetables and tickets on flixbus.com). The buses stop at both terminals of Malpensa, but only run 6 times a day at approximately 120-minute intervals. The ticket costs 20 eur and the journey takes 2 hours.
The alternative is a very frequent connection with a change at Milan Central Station.
The situation is similar for transport to Linate airport. The Malpensa Shuttle buses run 5 times a day, but again there is the option of a frequent connection with a change at Milan Central Station.
Total transfer times
- Malpensa -> Bergamo ideally 4 hours
- Malpensa -> Linate ideally 4 hours
Taxi / Uber to Milan
There is an official taxi rank right in front of the terminal. The price to central Milan is fixed and is currently 104 eur.
You can also use the Uber mobile app, but it runs at similar prices to regular taxis.
The Uber stop at Terminal 1 is just outside the train station near the shuttle bus stop towards Terminal 2.
The Uber station at Terminal 2 is at the exit of the arrivals hall near the shuttle bus stops.
Car rental
If you're heading straight from the airport to the Alps or the sea and want to see as many places as possible, we recommend renting a car directly from the terminal.
Most multinational and some local car rental companies are based at the airport and prices start at around 37 eur per day.
The car rental counters at both terminals are located in the train station area.
Other destinations
There are also direct buses from Malpensa Airport to nearby cities:
- Turin - 10 times a day, 25 eur, Flibco, Terravision or Flixbus
- Novara - Flibco, Stnnet, 10 eur
- Domodossola - Comazzibus
- Lugano - Malpensa Express, Lugano Services or Jetbus
Direction Varese and Switzerland
The S50 rail line then runs directly from the airport once an hour northwards via Busto Arsizio, Gallarate, Varese, Induno Olono and Stabio in Switzerland, where it is followed by other trains towards Lugano or Zurich. For timetables, visit trenord.it.
