Getting from Melbourne Avalon Airport

Melbourne-Avalon Airport can be reached by regular SkyBus service from Melbourne city centre, as well as a minibus service (by reservation only) from Geelong.

Red double-decker SkyBus buses run to Southern Cross station in central Melbourne.
The stop for the airport direction is always at platform number 75, next to the Melbourne MEL Airport bus platform.

On the way, the SkyBus has a stop in Werribee. If you want to get off in Werribee, you must always tell the driver, otherwise the bus will not stop in Werribee. On the way to the airport, buses always stop in Werribee.
The timetable is tailored to correspond with the current flight schedule and is always published 5 days in advance and detailed times can be found at skybus.com.au/avalon-city-express/timetable.
Buses from Melbourne city centre run to arrive at the airport 65 minutes before departure, which is more than adequate time.
From the airport to Melbourne, buses always run 30 minutes after the arrival of a scheduled flight and wait in case of flight delays.
Tickets and prices
Tickets can be purchased at the bus stop from a machine, where you can only pay by card. There are machines at both Southern Cross Station and Avalon Airport.
- 27,30 aud - One-way
- 51,50 aud - return
Tickets can also be purchased online via skybus.com.au/buy-tickets. Ticket prices online and on-site are the same.
The ticket is valid for 3 months after purchase and does not need to be used for a specific connection or date.
MyBus to Geelong
MyBus Geelong operates minibuses to the nearest town of Geelong.
The price of a one-way ticket is 45 aud, which is not much less than a regular taxi.
In addition, you must book the bus at least 24 hours before your journey by phone or email, see official contacts and information: mybusgeelong.com.au/services.
Minibuses can also be used to some towns along the Great Ocean Road - Torquay, Anglesea and Lorne - but at prices from 210 aud.
There is no regular public transport from the airport to Geelong.
Car Hire
Although only about 5-8 flights land at the airport each day, there are branches of many car rental companies (such as Avis, Sixt, Hertz, Budget and others) in the terminal.
Weekly rental rates in high season are slightly higher than at Melbourne's main airport, ranging from 480 aud.
As car rental companies in Avalon have small capacities, ideally book your car at least 1 month in advance.
Taxi, Uber
The taxi rank is located on the right approximately 50 metres from the airport building.
Taxis are always metered and payment is often by card only.
The Uber app is also available here. Cars always stop about 20 metres directly straight ahead from the terminal (follow the "Rideshare" signs).
Approximate prices according to traffic density and current demand are as follows:
- Melbourne CBD
- Taxi from 150 aud
- Uber from 100 aud
- Geelong
- Taxifrom 55 aud
- Uber from 40 aud
