The only terminal at Heraklion Airport looks outdated and in the summer season it is very congested. However, orientation is not difficult and the distances from check-in to the planes are short.
The terminal has a single ground floor. Most of it is set aside for check-in desks and departures, with only a smaller section on the far left serving arrivals.
In the summer season, be prepared for extreme seating shortages and security lines of up to 40 minutes.
Transfer between flights
Heraklion Airport is not a transfer hub and therefore does not have a direct transfer option through the transit zone.
In case you make a transfer in Heraklion on your own, you have to go out, check in again and go back through security.
