You need to log in to the internet with a code, which you will receive by text message. Therefore, you need to enter a real phone number when logging in. The sms will come without any problem even to a foreign phone number.

Don't bother buying a physical sim card upon arrival. Get a Chinese data e-sim quickly and easily on the web airalo.com.

ATMs and exchange offices

There are many exchange offices at the airport, but the rates are not very good.

Much better is withdrawing money from Bank of China ATMs, which allow most foreign cards (such as Revolut) to be withdrawn for free.

ATMs are located in many places around the airport.

Shops and supermarkets

All terminals have a large number of shops selling luxury fashion, jewellery, watches, luggage or travel gear.

There are also many duty free shops.

Most of the shops are located after the security checkpoint and this area is more like a large luxury shopping mall than an airport. The opening hours of the shops are usually from 6:00am to 10:00pm.

There are also a few mini-markets at the airport with takeaway snacks:

  • Lawson - Terminal 4, public area, arrivals, 24/7
  • Lawson - Terminal 4, after security, domestic departures, 24/7
  • 7-Eleven - Terminal 3, public area, check-in counters "H", 6:00am-1:00pm
  • 7-Eleven - Terminal 3, public area, arrivals, 24/7
  • 7-Eleven - Transportation Center, 24/7
  • Family Mart - Terminal 3, Public Area, Arrivals, 6:00 a.m.-last arrival

Hangzhou Airport is well equipped with local restaurants as well as international fast-food outlets such as McDonald's, KFC and Starbucks.

Most establishments are open from 6:00am or 7:00am to 10:00pm and no restaurant is open 24/7.

There are cold and hot drinking water dispensers in all terminals after security checks.

You can fill your own bottle for free, which you can carry through security without any problems.

Showers

Public showers are not available at Guangzhou Airport, and you won't usually find showers in the premium lounges either.
