The main means of transport on the entire island of Flores is the car. Otherwise it is practically impossible to move around the island.
Car rental
All car rental companies operating on Flores are located directly in the arrivals terminal.
Here you will find a branch of AutAtlantis or Ilha Verde. The price for a weekly rental in high season starts at around 220 eur.

We recommend booking a car at least 2 months in advance. Local car rental companies have limited capacity and may sell out completely.

Taxi
Taxis also operate on Flores, but are usually more of a call or order from your accommodation. There are usually no taxis waiting at the airport upon arrival, or only for pre-arranged orders.
Taxis are operated by private companies and can be booked through your accommodation or, for example, via the website: pickmeupinflores.com.
Bus
There is a local public bus stop on the main road to the right of the terminal (about 30 metres).
The following bus routes pass by the airport. Click on the line number to see the timetable:
- Line 1: Santa Cruz - Monte - Fazenda - Cedros - Ponta Delgada (3-4 times a day)
- Line 2: Santa Cruz - Caveira - Lomba - Lajes (1x daily)
The timetables have many exceptions and usually only run on weekdays. Some services run only on school days and the timetable is not adapted to flight traffic.
Payment is by cash only at the driver.
