The fastest and most direct way to get to the centre of Florence is by T2 tram. Several suburban bus lines also stop near the terminal.

Tram T2
The T2 tram line runs between the airport and Florence city centre, taking you to Santa Maria Novella Central Station in the city centre.
The airport stop is right outside the terminal.

Tickets
A ticket for one ride costs 1,70 eur. When travelling with several people, it may be worth buying 10 tickets at a discounted price 15,50 eur.
Tickets can be conveniently purchased from the ticket machine at each tram stop. You can pay by card or cash.
Alternatively, you can buy via the Tabnet mobile app (available on Google Play / App Store).
Timetable and route
The tram journey to the city centre takes about 20 minutes.
During the day, there are trams every 6 to 7 minutes, every 9 minutes on Sundays and every 11 minutes in the early morning or late evening.
The first connection from the centre (Unitá stop) to the airport runs at 5:00, and the last connection from the airport to the centre runs at 0:04 (up to 1:32 on Fridays and Saturdays).
Car rental
Is Florence Airport just a starting point for travelling around the Tuscan countryside or the Apuan Alps? In this case, the most practical option is to rent a car directly at the airport, where many car rental companies are located in the arrivals terminal.
Prices for smaller rentals start at 50 eur for 4 days.
You can compare the prices of all car rental companies in Florence, for example, on booking.com, where you can also book a car directly.
Buses
On the main street, about 80 metres from the terminal, there are formerly frequent bus stops, but after the introduction of the tram line, only 3-5 times a day the suburban services 301A and 307A stop there, which are not very useful from a tourist point of view.
However, the Guidoni bus station is only one tram stop away from the airport. From the "Firenze Guidoni" stop you can use for example the following bus lines:
- R1 - Prato
- Frequency: 15 minutes
- Price: 2,90 eur
