Getting from Erfurt Airport

The airport is very accessible by public transport and by car. The terminal is located in the Bindersleben district in the west of Erfurt.

Cheap hotels in the centre of Erfurt

Tram line 4

Erfurt is one of the very few cities in the world that is connected to its airport by tram.

Tram line 4 runs directly to the terminal (stop "Flughafen") from the centre. On your way from the centre, take the tram in the direction "Bindersleben". The airport is not a final stop.

  • Travel time: 21 minutes to the central stop "Anger"
  • Price: 2,50 eur for 60 minutes / 6,20 eur for 24 hours
  • Frequency: 10 minutes (20 minutes on weekends)
  • First tram from Anger stop - 4:30 (weekdays), 6:30 (weekends and holidays)
  • Last tram from the airport - 0:08

Tickets can be purchased from the ticket machine at each tram stop. You can pay with cash or card.

Local buses

Buses of the transport company EVAG also run from the airport on lines 91 and 92 to the suburbs of Erfurt. Ticket prices are the same as for the tram, i.e. 2,50 eur for 60 minutes.

  • Line 91 - direction Ermstedt (frequency 1x per hour)
  • Line 92 - direction Töttelstädt (frequency 2x per hour)

Buses to Gotha

The airport is also served by bus line 894 of the transport company NVAG.

Line 894 serves the villages between the airport and Gotha. To get to Gotha, you have to change to line 891 at Gamstädt. The buses are interconnected and the transfer time is only 2 minutes.

Both lines 891 and 894 run at intervals of 60-120 minutes and the journey to Gotha takes 60 minutes even with a transfer.

Tickets cost 4,30 eur and can be bought from the driver. You can pay by card or cash.
