Car rental
If you're heading out to explore Alberta or neighbouring British Columbia, renting a car is the number one choice.
There is either no or very limited public transport to the mountains and countryside.
Edmonton Airport has a wide range of car rental companies, with dozens of different companies.
The average price for a week's rental in the summer season is around 350 cad. We recommend booking a car at least 3 months in advance.

Public transport
Public transport is provided by the 747 bus line, which will take you to the nearest Century Park rapid transit station, from where the route Capital Line to the city centre.
A special fare applies on the 747 5 cad. Officially, this ticket is valid for 90 minutes, but does not include the option to transfer to other lines.
You must therefore buy a regular 90-minute ticket for all ETS lines at the Century Park tram station for 3,50 cad.
At the airport, you can purchase your ticket at the "Parking and Ground Transportation" desk in the public area of the arrivals hall, where you can pay with cash or card. You can only purchase the fare from the driver in exact cash.
At the airport, you can purchase an Arc Card at the machine for 6 cad, which provides a cheaper fare around Edmonton (2,75 cad / 90 minutes), but the price for the airport bus remains 5 cad.

Uber
Edmonton has a mobile app called Uber that can offer a lower price than regular taxis.
For example, Downtown is usually available for around 45 cad.
