Al Maktoum Airport, better known by its alternative name Dubai World Central, is located in the south of Dubai on a huge area and is expected to be the largest airport in the world in the future.
The airport began operations in 2010 and serves mainly cargo traffic. Only a handful of airlines still operate passenger flights to DWC, and Dubai DXB, 55km away, remains the main gateway to the UAE.
