The airport can be reached conveniently by bus from Chania, and many car rental companies are also available.
If you are arriving in Chania as part of an organised tour with a tour operator, there is no need to worry about transport to/from the airport. You will be taken by the tour operator's bus directly to your hotel.
Car rental
Getting to know Crete individually is best with a rental car, which will take you to all the natural attractions and beaches. Many local and multinational rental companies are based at Chania airport.
Prices in high season range from around 50 eur to 80 eur per day for a week's rental.
Bus to Chania
Unnumbered bus companies KTEL Chania-Rethymno runs to Chania Central Bus Station (location on google.com/maps) approximately once every 30 to 60 minutes from 5:00 am to 11:45 pm. Departure times vary from day to day and take into account the flight schedule.
The first buses from the centre of Chania to the airport leave at 5:00, the last buses from the airport to the city leave at exactly 0:00.

Ticket costs 2,30 eur and can be bought at the small kiosk in front of the bus stop to the right of the terminal. The stand is clearly marked with the sign "BUS STOP". When travelling from the city centre, buy the ticket at the ticket office at the main bus station. The driver does not sell tickets.
The journey from the airport to Chania takes approximately 25-30 minutes.
From the bus station in Chania you can get all over western Crete and to Heraklion. All services are operated by the same company as the airport service and timetables can be found on the e-ktel.com.
Bus to Rethymno
There are four direct services per day from the airport and to Rethymno, with a stop at the harbour in Souda. The journey takes approximately 70 minutes and costs 7,30 eur.
Tickets can be bought at the same stand at the airport or at the bus station in Rethymno at the ticket office.

Taxi
Taxis are waiting at the airport in large numbers for all flights until late at night. The taxi meter is not used as the price to Chania city centre is fixed at 23 eur. Payment can only be made in cash.
