Bandar Seri Begawan

The best way to get to the airport from the centre of Bandar Seri Begawan is via the Dart Rider mobile app, the local equivalent of Uber, Bolt or Grab.

Taxis are also available, as well as public transport during the day.

Dart Rider mobile app

The Dart Rider mobile app offers the best value for money and is usually cheaper than regular taxis.

Dart works very similarly to Grab, Bolt, Uber and Lyft, except that you can't pay directly with a stored credit card.

You can charge your account with your own amount to your DART wallet, which will be gradually deducted from the fare, or the other option is to pay in cash.

You always pay the amount you see in the app when you order your car. Tipping is not customary here.

The price to the centre of Bandar Seri Begawan varies between 11 bnd and 12,50 bnd depending on the current demand.

Where is the Dart Rider station?

Upon exiting the airport building, you will see a counter in front of you to order a taxi. Just before it, turn right towards the P2 parking lot.

Under the covered walkway, walk past the mosque and across the parking lot to the end of the lot where you will wait for the Dart car.

On the way to the airport, the driver will drop you off right outside the departure terminal.

Taxi

Regular taxis have a counter immediately after exiting the arrivals hall.

You book and pay for your ride at this counter. You can only pay in cash.

When travelling to the airport, you pay the fare directly to the driver.

There are always plenty of taxis waiting at the airport, however, we recommend booking a taxi through the hotel or using the Dart Rider mobile app when travelling to the airport. There are not many taxis on the streets of Bandar Seri Begawan, especially not in the early morning hours.

The taxi price is set according to the meter:

  • 3 bnd - airport taxi fare
  • 3,50 bnd - 1 km or 1 minute ride (whichever comes first)
  • 0,20 bnd - every additional 250 metres or 15 seconds of driving (whichever comes first)

Between 18:00 and 6:00 there is a 50% surcharge.

On average, you will pay around 50 % for a trip to the centre of Brunei Hotel 13 bnd during daylight hours or 18 bnd at night.

Bus

Public transport to the airport is provided by several bus routes. They all run to the main bus stop in the city centre, just on a slightly different route.

The downtown stop is located near the Brunei Hotel on Kianggeh Street and is referred to as "BSB Bus Station" (see map).

From the centre of Bandar Seri Begawan to the airport, use bus routes 23, 24, 34, 36, 38. You can find a list of bus stops on the Transport BN mobile app.

The timetable is nowhere to be found, neither on the website nor at the bus stop. Usually there is a bus from downtown to the airport 1-2 times per hour.

Bus hours are 6:00am to 8:00pm, but the last buses from the airport to downtown usually run between 6:30pm and 7:00pm.

The fare is payable to the driver on alighting and is 1 bnd. Payment can only be made in cash.

Car rental

In the terminal you will find the counters of several well-known car rental companies such as Avis, Hertz or Thrifty.

Advance booking is always necessary, as cars are only available after prior online booking.

Car rental in Brunei can only be booked through the car rental companies' websites.
