Slovakia's largest airport, named after Milan Rastislav Štefánik, is currently one of the many homes of Europe's largest low-cost airline - Ryanair.
The proximity of Vienna VIE airport (70 km) with its much larger facilities, which attracts airlines from all over the world, has hindered the development of Bratislava airport.
The vast majority of the airport's traffic is handled by Ryanair with around 20 direct routes. Of the traditional network airlines, only Greek Aegean Airlines flies to Bratislava from Athens.
