Belgrade Airport formally has 2 terminals, but in reality it is only one building. The original Terminal 1 and the slightly newer Terminal 2 have been combined and significantly expanded into one larger building after a major renovation in 2022.
The airport is modern and well laid out. Arrivals from all countries are on the ground floor, with departure check-in desks and the only central security and passport control on the 1st floor.
For morning departures (between 5:30am and 7:30am) and evening rush hour (between 6pm and 11pm), ideally arrive at the airport 2.5 hours before departure, as queues for security and passport control can reach up to 40 minutes.
After security check you will find yourself in departure gate area A. If your flight is departing from Departure Gate C, you will have to walk for approximately 10 minutes through the corridors.
Transfer between flights
Belgrade is an important transfer hub on a European level thanks to the fast-growing Air Serbia. The latter has a very dense network of routes in the Balkans, but also in Western and Northern Europe and also operates a route to the USA.
Connections are well signposted and well organised.
If you are arriving from a country included in "OSS" One-Stop-Security, you will disembark directly at the departure gate area upon arrival in Belgrade. You will therefore not go through any passport or security control and the real transfer time between planes will take 5-20 minutes.
This simplified procedure applies to all flights from the EU or the USA.
For transfers from other countries, you will still go through a special corridor for security checks. There is no passport control. In this case, the transfer between planes will take 20-35 minutes.
The above description applies if you are connecting on one ticket and do not have to check in again.
