A small airline, Winair is based on the Caribbean island of St Martin, from where it flies to small islands in the surrounding area. All flights operate from its base at SXM airport.
In the world of aviation enthusiasts, it is best known for its flights to Saba SAB, with one of the shortest runways, and also to St. Barth SBH, which is known for one of the most difficult approach manoeuvres to a short runway with an extremely steep gradient.
Due to its specialisation in difficult and small airports, Winair only operates a fleet of smaller 19-passenger DHC-6 Twin Otter propeller aircraft, supplemented by several larger ATR42 aircraft for up to 50 people.
