Virgin Australia is one of the carriers that allows free check-in at the airport.

Check-in at the airport

Check-in at the airport counter is free of charge for Virgin Australia.

Counter opening and closing times are as follows:

• International flights - 3 hours to 60 minutes before departure
• Domestic flights - 2 hours to 30 minutes before departure

At all Australian airports you can check-in via a self-service kiosk, which allows you to avoid queues if you are travelling with hand luggage only.

Online check-in

You can check-in online in the comfort of your home for 48 hours at check-in.virginaustralia.com.

You can only check in online for domestic flights. Online check-in is not available on any international flights.

Online check-in is also available via the Virgin Australia mobile app (Google Play / App Store), where you enter your booking number and present a QR code on your mobile at the airport.

If you are travelling with hand luggage only, you do not need to visit the airport counter at all. Proceed straight to security and passport control.

Selecting a seat (seating)

Do you want a window seat or, on a long flight, do you prefer an aisle seat so you can stretch out undisturbed at any time?

With Virgin Australia, you can choose a specific seat from 12 aud at the back of the plane to 55 aud for a seat with more legroom.

If you skip the seat selection, you will be allocated a random seat for free.
