KLM baggage

KLM - Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet

What are the permitted dimensions and weight of baggage on KLM flights? Are strollers carried free of charge? Official information on baggage can be found on the KLM website.

Hand luggage

Hand baggage is free on all routes on all purchased fares, including the cheapest Light fare. You can even take two hand luggage bags on board up to a total weight of 12 kg. However, weight is only exceptionally taken into account and particular attention is paid to dimensions:

  • 55 x 35 x 25 cm
  • 40 x 30 x 15 cm

Only one piece of luggage for a child without its own seat (lap passenger) can be 55 x 35 x 25 cm.

Two carry-on bags with the above dimensions are valid for both Economy and Business Class.

Checked baggage

Checked baggage is not included in the cheapest Light fare on any route. On the other hand, Standard and Flex fares already include checked baggage up to 23 kg in the price.

One piece of luggage must always be no more than 23 kg and the sum of its dimensions should not exceed 158 cm.

What is the price of checked baggage?

With KLM, it is always worth buying the more expensive Standard fare with your checked baggage already included. Compared to the Light fare, the price of the Standard fare is higher by approximately the following amounts:

  • 60 eur for long-haul flights (from Europe to another continent)
  • 30 eur up to 35 eur for flights within Europe

In the case of a connecting ticket, i.e. with 2 or more flights, the price always increases for the direction only, not for each flight separately.

Strollers and baby equipment

You can always carry one child for free on all KLM flights on all fares:

  • Stroller - you take it to the boarding gate where it will be collected by staff, and it will be available again immediately upon deplaning upon arrival.
  • Baby seat or baby carrier (the carrier must be checked as baggage, the baby seat must not)
