AirAsia is one of the carriers that allow free check-in at the airport.
Check-in at the airport
Check-in at the airport counter is free of charge for AirAsia.
Counter opening and closing times are as follows:
- Domestic flights - 120 to 45 minutes before departure ( Kuala Lumpur KUL Airport closes 60 minutes before departure).
- International flights - 180 to 60 minutes before departure
At most Malaysian, Philippine and Indonesian airports, you can also use self-service kiosks to print your own boarding pass.
Even if you're travelling with checked baggage, you can check it in yourself at special counters. However, these are only available at some large airports.
Online check-in
Online check-in is available from 14 days to 1 hour before departure.
Mobile check-in is the most common method.
Online check-in is only available via the AirAsia MOVE mobile app (Google Play / App Store), where you enter your booking number and present a QR code on your mobile at the airport.
Seat selection (seating)
If you have a ticket on the lowest fare with no added packages, you can choose your specific seat on the aircraft for a fee ranging from approximately 3 usd on short domestic flights to 15 usd on longer flights with AirAsia X.
If you don't choose a seat, it will be randomly assigned to you for free.
When travelling with children, even if randomly assigned, you will be seated together.
Free seat selection is available after purchasing the "Value Pack", "Premimum Flex" or "Premium Flatbad" packages.
