Air India Express baggage

Air India Express has no checked baggage on the lowest fare Xpress Lite.

You can always carry hand baggage free of charge.

Carry-on baggage

Passengers in all classes have a free cabin baggage allowance, which must not exceed 56 x 36 x 23 cm and weigh up to 7 kg.

In addition to dimensions, weight is often checked. During the ticket purchase process, you can add up to 5 kg extra weight to your hand luggage at 1 750 inr.

Officially, no other personal items such as a laptop or handbag are allowed with cabin baggage.

Checked baggage

The number and weight of checked baggage depends on the specific route and the fare purchased.

Air India Express has a policy called. weight concept, which means that passengers can take the number of kilograms listed below for free, regardless of the number of bags. You can have as many as 3 pieces of luggage as long as all of them together have the specified weight.

Domestic International
Xpress Lite 0 0
Xpress Value 15 kg 30 kg
(some routes only 20 kg)
Xpress Flex 15 kg 30 kg
(some routes only 20 kg)

You can purchase a 15kg bag for 1 000 inr on domestic routes or for 1 300 inr on international routes with the Xpress Lite fare. However, it is always more cost-effective to purchase the more expensive Xpress Value fare directly.

Overweight charges

An oversized baggage fee is consistently charged whenever your suitcase exceeds the specified weight.

The amount is 650 inr per 1 kg.

You can add extra weight during the ticket purchase process or later online via the airline's website:

  • 3 kg per 1 650 inr
  • 5 kg per 2 750 inr
  • 10 kg per 5 500 inr
  • 15 kg per 8 250 inr
