It's easy to check in for your Air China flight at the airport or online. Both options are free.
Check-in at the airport
Check-in counters at the airport open 3 hours before scheduled departure and close 1 hour before departure.
Air China also offers self-check-in kiosks at many airports for both boarding pass printing and baggage check-in.
Online check-in
Online check-in times vary greatly by destination, with some places allowing 12 hours, others up to 36 hours before departure.
A detailed list of destinations can be found at https://www.airchina.de/international-list and a direct check-in page can be found at airchina.com/check-in.
Hi, I also have a question about online check-in with this airline. I'm flying to Bangkok via Beijing on Monday, despite stories about the totally broken app and website, I managed to get through the online check-in somehow, but even though the app tells me that the check-in was successful, I can't find any QR code or anything like that anywhere to get through the turnstile at the airport. And from what it says, I understand that I will still need to go through the counter or check-in kiosk at the airport, since I have already checked-in. So I want to ask if this is a normal procedure for this airline, or am I one of those who made a mistake during the online check-in😀Thank you in advance for the answer
Kama, you didn't do anything. To the other sheep.
I was kind of counting on it, hey. So Air China's check-in system remains unsubverted
There are more airlines with this... the on-line check-in, like, it works... it assigns you seats, etc., but it doesn't give you a boarding pass. So you still have to check in.
Which is probably what's happened to me now. So the bulkhead makes sure of that, thanks for the info:)
Hi, I can confirm, we also did online checkin on the mobile app in the fall, but you still can't avoid the queue. The queue is one for economy, no resolution if you've already done online check in, we had seats on the plane that we chose. Same experience from Munich and then back in Hanoi. You basically just picked your seats. Otherwise the line was long and slow, Munich about an hour, Hanoi about half an hour and we were there more than 2 hours before departure each time.
I confirm what you write, you get the seats you have chosen, but that's about all the online check-in is good for, everything else is sorted out at the counter. But I have to say that I had a good experience in Vienna, they were pretty good. I arrived about halfway through, but within 20 minutes I was at the security check ;)
