Surin Beach is located between Kamala and Bangtao and is one of the smaller and more intimate resorts on Phuket's west coast.
The atmosphere in Surin is much more local than in the larger resorts, and the lively promenade along the beach has many stalls selling very cheap local snacks.
Beach facilities
Surin Beach is about 400 metres long and, like other beaches on the west coast, is covered in fine white sand.
The entrance to the mostly calm sea is gradual and very comfortable.
Part of the beach is set aside for sunbed and umbrella hire, but there is plenty of open space.
Along the beach there are dozens of refreshment stands, outdoor massage parlours or beach equipment stalls.
Showers are not available and toilets can only be used in restaurants if you also order food there.
Beachfront accommodation
Surin is one of the smaller and very quiet resorts. However, you will find supermarkets, restaurants and shops with beach facilities and of course several hotels and cheap apartments.
What accommodation would we recommend?
- The cheapest (up to 40 usd) - Surin Bay Inn **
- Best value for money right by the sea -. Norn Talay Surin Beach Phuket ****
- Luxury resort - The Surin Phuket *****
Transportation to Surin beach
Surin can be found 12 km from Patong and 25 km from Phuket Town. The beach is easily accessible by bus, songtaew and car.
There is a large free car park right next to the beach, where you will always find plenty of free spaces.
Buses
There is one line of classic buses running through Surin Beach.
- Smart Bus - single price 100 thb or 299 thb for a day ticket
- Runs on the route HKT Airport - Surin - Kamala - Patong - Karon - Kata - Rawai
- Frequency 30 to 60 minutes
- Timetable and information: phuketsmartbus.com
Buses stop at the junction on the main road.
Songthaew (Blue Bus)
Local buses, pick-ups converted to carry passengers, run to Phuket Town and the neighbouring resort of Kamala.
They run roughly once an hour from about 6:30am to 4pm.
The fare is 60 thb and the buses stop on the main road. To Phuket Town, they run northbound via Cherngtalay. In the southbound direction the songtaews only go to the neighbouring resort of Kamala, where they terminate.
Taxi, Bolt, Grab
Of this trio, the Bolt mobile app almost always comes out best.
The local tuktuk stop is right by the beach.
