The walking path leads through a small park in the Mariaberget district, whose name is often used in various guidebooks as the name of the Monteliusvägen viewpoint.

The best view of Stockholm

The Monteliusvägen trail may not be a "secret" spot and is well known among tourists from all over the world, but it's certainly rightfully so.

From Mariaberget Hill, you really do get the best views of central Stockholm, with Gamla Stan, Stockholm City Hall, the beautiful houses on Mälarstrand and Riddarfjärden Bay.

How to get to the viewpoint?

You can climb Monteliusvägen via the steep streets from the Söder Mälarstrand waterfront, but it's not very pretty.

We recommend taking the red metro line to Mariatorget station instead, which is a much nicer route through a nice quiet neighbourhood (about 5 minutes walk).

Accommodation at Mariaberget

A nice neighbourhood full of cafes and shops is a great place to stay if you are looking for local life.

You will find two hotels here.
