Torre del Mar is one of the main tourist destinations on the Costa del Sol, east of Málaga and close to Nerja. Torre del Mar is a modern resort, mostly with hotel complexes that were built here in the late 1990s.

The town is a popular destination for shorter holidays and also for travellers looking to save a bit of money, as it's one of the cheapest resorts on the Costa del Sol.
Beaches and swimming
Torre del Mar boasts over 2km of spacious sandy beach with occasional pebbles and stones. As it's one of the smaller resorts, even the local beach is slightly less busy than destinations on the western Costa del Sol.
Even so, it offers everything from sun lounger hire to water sports on offer to dozens of restaurants and tapas bars.
Between the beach and the town runs a beautiful renovated promenade full of palm trees, benches and various refreshment stands.
Town and attractions
The town has all the facilities you need, from supermarkets to dozens of shops. You'd be hard pressed to find a historic centre in Torre del Mar, but just 3.5km away you can take a trip to the beautiful historic town at the foot of the Vélez-Málaga mountains.
A popular place for children and fun enthusiasts alike is the Aquavelis Water Park.
Accommodation Torre del Mar
You can stay in many hotels in Torre del Mar with prices from 66 eur per night for 2 even in high season, which is below average by Costa del Sol standards.
The cheapest hotels with very good ratings are quiet close to the beach, we would recommend Las Américas or Hotel Miraya Beach.
Even cheaper accommodation can be found in the nearby town of Vélez-Málaga.
Transportation
Torre del Mar can only be reached by bus, most of which are operated by Alsa. Ideally, buy your tickets on alsa.es, the most frequent connection from Torre del Mar:
- Málaga: 3-4 times per hour, the ride takes about an hour and costs around 3 eur
- Nerja: 1-3 times per hour, takes about 30 minutes and costs around 2 eur
Local public transport then runs between Torre del Mar and Vélez-Málaga every 10-20 minutes at a cost of 1,20 eur.
