The popular Dadaepo beach is a mix of lively urban beach and beautiful purely natural surroundings. It is here that the main built-up area of Busan ends and the coastline turns into romantic sand dunes at the mouth of the Nakdong River into the sea.
It is the only beach in Busan that faces west, so crowds of locals and tourists alike head here in the early evening to watch the sunsets.
Swimming and beach facilities
Dadaepo Beach is covered with fine sand hardened by frequent tides. Swimming here is only possible at high tide, as at low tide you have to wade several hundred metres into the sea through muddy sandbanks.
However, tourists head to Dadaepo more for the beautiful early evening views and walks on the adjacent wooded Morundae peninsula.
A small promenade full of shops and restaurants runs along the beach.
Transport to the beach
Dadaepo Beach is easily accessible from the town centre. Just about 30 metres from the beach is the terminus of the orange Dadaepo metro line. It takes about 20 minutes to get here from the centre of Busan.
