Busan is South Korea's second largest city with just under 4 million inhabitants. It is located on the coast of the Sea of Japan and the local container port is the 7th largest in the world in terms of cargo volume.
Busan has a maritime feel at first sight. Among the most visited places are the huge fish market and, in summer, the most beautiful urban beaches in Korea.
The city is hugged by mountains, deep valleys and jagged cliffs, creating an extremely attractive photogenic setting. Skyscrapers climbing the hillsides are interspersed with the small, colourful houses of older neighbourhoods and vast stretches of wooded coastline criss-crossed by dozens of hiking trails.
While Busan may not be one of the most visited tourist destinations on the world map, we rate the city as one of the most interesting and dynamic in the world.
