To the north of the island is the lesser known, but no less breathtaking, contemporary of the already collapsed Azure Window. It is an arch made of limestone, formed by strong sea waves.
After the collapse of the Azure Window in 2017, this place has become more visited, but you will still find peace and a minimum of tourists.
The view of the rock formation is free and accessible after a short walk from the car park (about 100 metres).
How to get there
Wied Il-Mielah is not accessible by bus, nor do hop-on hop-off buses stop here.
The best transport is by bike or car. Parking is available in improvised car parks, but there are plenty of spaces even in the summer season.
An asphalt and concrete narrow road leads from the village of Gharb. You can continue in the other direction to Marsalforn, but only on a gravel road. Both roads are passable for all types of cars.
To get here on foot, follow Gozo Coastal Walk - 4 km from Gharb and 6.5 km from Marsalforn.
