The beach at Gnejna Bay is the least visited of the three beaches in the area (Golden Bay, Ghajn Tuffieha). The beach is located away from the main tourist routes, but this is an advantage for many people. There are never that many tourists here and the visitors are often dominated by locals.

Gnejna Bay is a beautiful place with photogenic reefs, crystal clear water, a gradual entry into the sea and great snorkelling opportunities around the edges of the bay between the rocky reefs. This is why Gnejna Beach is often described as one of the most beautiful beaches in Malta.
Beach facilities
All year round, there are several small refreshment stands, sunbed and umbrella hire (a set of 2 sunbeds and an umbrella costs around €15 per day), public toilets, a small fishing village and, above all, fine golden sand.
You can also rent a kayak (8 eur for an hour) or snorkelling equipment (10 eur for a day) at the refreshment stands. There are many other attractions.
How to get there
Gnejna beach is about 20 km from Malta airport and 6 km from the resort of Mellieha.
By car
The easiest option is to travel by rental car. There's free parking right next to the beach (during the summer, traffic is directed by a warden, who often expects a small tip), but it's best to arrive early in the morning, otherwise the car park tends to be crowded.
By bus
In the past, the 101 bus line used to run directly to the beach, but this has been overloaded, so there are no buses to Gnejna Beach nowadays.
The nearest stops are in the town of Mgarr, almost 3 km away (steeply uphill), or a 1.5 km walk along the cliffs by the beach Ghajn Tuffieha.
