Getting to Malta

Comino

Malta is cheap to get to mainly by plane. Regular ferries from abroad currently operate only from Italy.

By air

The only way to get to Malta cheaply is by air. There is only one international airport on the islands Malta Luqa MLA.

There are direct flights to Malta from all over Europe. Long-haul flights can be purchased on the airline's website emirates.com operating direct flights to Dubai with connections to Asia and Australia.

Ticket prices are traditionally highest during the summer season, but in winter they can be bought really cheap. Low-cost airlines to European destinations will often offer return tickets ranging from 40 eur to 60 eur.

Even those who don't want to fly have the option of getting to Malta. Currently, two companies operate regular ferries from Malta to Italy on several routes. There are no ferries to Tunisia or any other country from Malta.

All ferries depart from the port in the capital Valletta.

The Italian Sicily is served by Virtu Ferries, carrying pedestrians and, on some routes, cars.
